SYNOPSIS
Released in 1970 on Victor, Electrum finds legendary Japanese drummer Akira Ishikawa and his Count Buffalos pushing jazz-rock into bold, experimental territory. Blending psychedelic textures, driving rhythms, and freewheeling improvisation, the album captures the raw energy of Japan’s emerging jazz fusion scene. From the sprawling, 21-minute title track to the restless intensity of “Revulsion” and the more atmospheric “Speak Under My Breath,” it’s an adventurous, unpredictable record that still sounds remarkably fresh today.
