UAIS ➲ Database ➲

UAIS is the central asset identification and cataloging system for RFD., documenting all assets produced, released, or presented by RFD. The collection encompasses a broad range of media, including video productions, radio programs, podcasts, and other creative works.

‍ ‍

Every asset registered in UAIS is assigned a unique, permanent Universal Asset Identifier (UAID), along with a separate Program Code. The UAID serves as a fixed reference throughout the asset's lifecycle, remaining unchanged regardless of subsequent updates to its title, format, or descriptive metadata. Together, these identifiers provide a consistent framework for asset identification, organization, and long-term cataloging.

‍ ‍

The UAIS Database is the public-facing search and discovery interface to the UAIS catalog. It allows visitors to locate individual assets by UAID, Program Code, title, or other available metadata, providing direct access to their catalog records. As the collection continues to grow, the database offers a straightforward way to find specific works, browse related programming, and explore the broader RFD. catalog.

‍ ‍

The quickest way to find RFD. assets is by searching their UAID or Program Code.

  • Both identifiers can typically be found in the description section of each video's playback page.

  • Every UAID is unique, permanent, and never reassigned or reused.

  • Program Codes are also unique at the time of assignment, but may occasionally be reassigned or renumbered to accommodate changes in programming or catalog organization.

For a permanent reference to a specific asset, always use its UAID.

UAID Rules

The Universal Asset Identifier (UAID) is a unique seven-character code assigned to every asset registered in RFD.'s Universal Asset Identification System (UAIS). Each UAID begins with “U” and ends with “D” for digital assets or “P” for physical assets. Digital assets use a two-digit type code followed by a three-character sequence, while physical assets use a single five-character sequence. All sequences follow Base-36 numbering (0–9, A–Z), with uppercase letters only. UAIDs provide a consistent way to identify, catalog, and reference assets. Once correctly assigned, an identifier remains unchanged throughout the asset's lifecycle, even if the asset is no longer publicly accessible.
